ALOR SETAR, 9 Sept 2017:
The Kedah Football Association (KFA) yesterday confirmed it failed to fulfill one of the six criteria set for the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) club licence to enable them to compete in the 2018 Super League and 2018 Asian Football Confederation (AFC) championship.
Honorary secretary Datuk Aminuddin Omar said KFA was informed by FAM the team did not pass in the financial criteria and would need to provide further clarification involving subjective matters.
“KFA has appealed to the Appeal Body (AB) with relevant supporting documents to clarify its true position according to FIB (First Instance Body) requirements.
“The Appeal Body is scheduled to meet on Sept 15 to consider appeals from teams who have not received club licences through FIB.”
FAM’s media statement on Thursday stated only seven out of 12 teams competing in the Super League this season have passed the FAM’s club licensing application criteria to allow them to play next season.
The teams are Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT), Selangor, Pahang, Perak, PKNS FC, Penang and T-TEAM FC. In order to obtain the licence, each team must comply with six criteria, namely fitness, infrastructure, administration, legal, finance and business.
After the AB convenes, said Aminuddin, FAM on Sept 30 will record the the clubs who qualify and don’t qualify for the Malaysian League and AFC tournament for the 2018 season.
“On Oct 31, the FAM club licensing agency will notify the AFC of the final status of the Malaysian League clubs who have passed the FAM / AFC Club Licensing requirements.”
Aminuddin said he believed the club had made all necessary preparations for obtaining the licence and would continue to give its full commitment to do so.
“As long as the club licensing process is still open and not concluded, all stakeholders can follow the positive development of club licensing in Malaysia, and continue to support KFA’s efforts to achieve the standards of modern football management.”
