Four-time Super League champions, Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) suffered 0-2 loss to Vietnamese club, Song Lam Nghe An in a 2018 AFC Cup match at Stadium Vinh yesterday.
In the second group H action, the host team scored through Phan Van Duc in the 22nd minute while Pham Xuan Manh sealed the match for his club in the dying minutes of the match, according to the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) official site www.the-afc.com.
JDT will next meet Tampines Rovers in Singapore, while Song Lam Nghe An will host Indonesia’s Persija Jakarta. Both matches will be held next Tuesday.
The local team has been facing several internal issues lately with coach Ulisses Morais resigning over a family member’s health three days ago before their sensational striker Jorge Pereyra Diaz left the club secretly from their hotel in Singapore while on the way to Vietnam.
