PUTRAJAYA, 12 March 2023:
Malaysia Covid19 daily new case reports during the latest 24 hours under review dipped to 223 persons recording positive tests – with three imported cases – to raise the nation’s tally to 5,045,192 infections.
Worryingly, most of the new infections are among those who had already received boosted vaccinations (163) or fully vaccinated (33) while unvaccinated persons numbered 27.
Kuala Lumpur (74) reported the most new cases, followed by Selangor (60), Melaka (13), Perak (13), Johor (12) and Kedah (10). Single digits were recorded in Putrajaya (9), Negeri Sembilan (8), Penang (8), Kelantan (5), Sarawak (5), Pahang (4), Labuan (1), Sabah (1); while Perlis and Terengganu reported none.
The 193 discharges were outpaced by new cases as total recoveries rose to 4,998,845 (99%) while active cases rose 30 to 9,380 – with 9,077 (96.8%) in home quarantine, 298 (3.2%) hospitalised and none at Low-Risk Covid19 Quarantine and Treatment Centres (PKRC).
Numbers at intensive care units stood at five Covid19 patients, with four needing breathing aids.
The grim statistic of lives lost to Covid19 paused for the third consecutive day to keep the death toll at 36,967 – with the brought-in-dead case subtotal staying at 7,877 casualties.
