PUTRAJAYA, 11 March 2023:
Malaysia Covid19 daily new case reports during the latest 24 hours under review stood at 251 persons recording positive tests – with an imported case – to raise the nation’s tally to 5,044,969 infections.
Worryingly, most of the new infections are among those who had already received boosted vaccinations (190) or fully vaccinated (33) while unvaccinated persons numbered 28.
Kuala Lumpur (87) reported the most new cases, followed by Selangor (68), Melaka (15), Johor (13) and Penang (11). Single digits were recorded in Kelantan (9), Pahang (9), Sarawak (9), Kedah (8), Negeri Sembilan (7), Putrajaya (7), Perak (5), Labuan (1), Perlis (1), Sabah (1) and Terengganu reported none.
The 197 discharges were outpaced by new cases as total recoveries rose to 4,998,652 (99%) while active cases rose 54 to 9,350 – with 9,012 (96.4%) in home quarantine, 332 (3.6%) hospitalised and none at Low-Risk Covid19 Quarantine and Treatment Centres (PKRC).
Numbers at intensive care units stood at six Covid19 patients, with two needing the breathing aid.
The grim statistic of lives lost to Covid19 paused for the second consecutive day to keep the death toll at 36,967 – with the brought-in-dead case subtotal staying at 7,877 casualties.
