PUTRAJAYA, 9 March 2023:
Malaysia Covid19 daily new case reports during the latest 24 hours under review rose to 235 persons recording positive tests – with six imported cases – to raise the nation’s tally to 5,044,439 infections.
Worryingly, most of the new infections are among those who had already received boosted vaccinations (189) or fully vaccinated (29) while unvaccinated persons numbered 17.
Kuala Lumpur (81) reported the most new cases, followed by Selangor (63), Johor (17), Melaka (14), Kedah (11) and Perak (10) . Single digits were recorded in Pahang (9), Putrajaya (9), Sarawak (6), Kelantan (5), Negeri Sembilan (5), Penang (3), Sabah (2); while Labuan, Perlis and Terengganu reported none.
The 216 discharges were just outpaced by new cases as total recoveries rose to 4,998,219 (99%) while active cases rose 18 to 9,253 – with 8,916 (96.4%) in home quarantine, 330 (3.6%) hospitalised and none at Low-Risk Covid19 Quarantine and Treatment Centres (PKRC).
Numbers at intensive care units rose to seven Covid19 patients, with one needing the breathing aid.
After two straight days of no fatalities, the grim statistic of lives lost to Covid19 added one more to raise the death toll to 36,967 – being a brought-in-dead case causing this subtotal increasing to 7,877 casualties. The latest death is that of an unvaccinated person.
