PUTRAJAYA, 8 March 2023:
Malaysia Covid19 daily new case reports during the latest 24 hours under review rose to 226 persons recording positive tests – with three imported cases – to raise the nation’s tally to 5,044,204 infections.
Worryingly, most of the new infections are among those who had already received boosted vaccinations (171) or fully vaccinated (34) while unvaccinated persons numbered 21 and one partially vaccinated.
Kuala Lumpur (90) reported the most new cases, followed by Selangor (52), Johor (13), Melaka (13) and Perak (11) . Single digits were recorded in Terengganu (8), Penang (7), Kedah (6), Labuan (6), Putrajaya (6), Sarawak (5), Kelantan (3), Negeri Sembilan (2), Pahang (2), Sabah (2) while Perlis reported none.
The 202 discharges were just outpaced by new cases as total recoveries rose to 4,998,003 (99%) while active cases rose 24 to 9,235 – with 8,913 (96.5%) in home quarantine, 318 (3.4%) hospitalised and none at Low-Risk Covid19 Quarantine and Treatment Centres (PKRC).
Numbers at intensive care units rose to four Covid19 patients, with none needing the breathing aid.
The grim statistic of lives lost to Covid19 paused for the second consecutive day with the death toll at 36,966, even as the brought-in-dead cases subtotal stood at 7,876 casualties for the fourth consecutive day.
