Pre-Endemic day 339: Covid19 new daily case reports at 164

PUTRAJAYA, 6 March 2023:

Malaysia Covid19 daily new case reports during the latest 24 hours under review dipped to 164 persons recording positive tests – with two imported cases – to raise the nation’s tally to 5,043,790 infections.

Worryingly, most of the new infections are among those who had already received boosted vaccinations (127) or fully vaccinated (22) while unvaccinated persons numbered 14 and one partially vaccinated.

Selangor (58) reported the most new cases, followed by Kuala Lumpur (51), Melaka (12) and Johor (11). Single digits were recorded in Kedah (7), Perak (5), Putrajaya (5), Negeri Sembilan (3), Pahang (3), Penang (3), Kelantan (2), Sarawak (2), Labuan (1) and Sabah (1); while Perlis and Terengganu reported none.

The 198 discharges outpaced new cases as total recoveries rose to 4,997,620 (99%) while active cases dipped 35 to 9,204 – with 8,888 (96.6%) in home quarantine, 314 (3.4%) hospitalised and none at Low-Risk Covid19 Quarantine and Treatment Centres (PKRC).

Numbers at intensive care units dipped to two Covid19 patients, with none needing the breathing aid.

The grim statistic of lives lost to Covid19 added one more fatality to raise the death toll to 36,966, even as the brought-in-dead cases subtotal stood at 7,876 casualties for the third consecutive day. The latest death is that of a vaccination boosted person.
