PUTRAJAYA, 5 March 2023:
Malaysia Covid19 daily new case reports during the latest 24 hours under review dipped to 170 persons recording positive tests – with two imported cases – to raise the nation’s tally to 5,043,626 infections.
Worryingly, most of the new infections are among those who had already received boosted vaccinations (125) or fully vaccinated (24) while unvaccinated persons numbered 19 and two partially vaccinated.
Selangor (61) reported the most new cases, followed by Kuala Lumpur (36), Melaka (12) and Perak (12). Single digits were recorded in Johor (9), Penang (7), Sarawak (7), Kedah (5), Kelantan (5), Putrajaya (5), Negeri Sembilan (4), Pahang (2), Perlis (2), Sabah (2), Labuan (1) and Terengganu recording none.
The 178 discharges outpaced new cases as total recoveries rose to 4,997,422 (99%) while active cases dipped eight to 9,239 – with 8,934 (96.7%) in home quarantine, 301 (3.3%) hospitalised and none at Low-Risk Covid19 Quarantine and Treatment Centres (PKRC).
Numbers at intensive care units dipped to four Covid19 patients, with only one needing the breathing aid.
The grim statistic of lives lost to Covid19 paused for the second consecutive day with the death toll at 36,965, while the brought-in-dead cases subtotal stood at 7,876 casualties.
