PUTRAJAYA, 2 March 2023:
Malaysia Covid19 daily new case reports during the latest 24 hours under review stood at 217 persons recording positive tests – with no imported cases – to raise the nation’s tally to 5,043,008 infections.
Worryingly, most of the new infections are among those who had already received boosted vaccinations (160) or fully vaccinated (39) while unvaccinated persons numbered 18.
Selangor (86) reported the most new cases, followed by Kuala Lumpur (58), Melaka (15) and Johor (12). Single digits were recorded in Putrajaya (9), Sarawak (9), Kelantan (8), Kedah (5), Penang (5), Negeri Sembilan (4), Pahang (2), Perak (2), Perlis (1), Sabah (1), Labuan and Terengganu recording none.
The 233 discharges outpaced new cases as total recoveries rose to 4,996,818 (99%) while active cases dipped 18 to 9,230 – with 8,982 (96.2%) in home quarantine, 341 (3.7%) hospitalised and none at Low-Risk Covid19 Quarantine and Treatment Centres (PKRC).
Numbers at intensive care units stood at seven Covid19 patients, with three needing breathing aids.
The grim statistic of lives lost to Covid19 saw two more fatalities to raise the death toll to 36,960, with another brought-in-dead case to increase this subtotal to 7,874 casualties. The latest death involved a boosted and a fully vaccinated persons.
