Malaysia Covid19 daily new case reports during the latest 24 hours under review stood at 190 persons recording positive tests – with two imported cases – to raise the nation’s tally to 5,042,585 infections.
Worryingly, most of the new infections are among those who had already received boosted vaccinations (130) or fully vaccinated (29) while unvaccinated persons numbered 29 and two partially vaccinated.
Selangor (70) reported the most new cases, followed by Kuala Lumpur (39), Perak (21). Single digits were recorded in Johor (9), Melaka (9), Kedah (8), Negeri Sembilan (8), Kelantan (7), Pahang (6), Putrajaya (4), Sarawak (4), Penang (3), Perlis (1), Sabah (1), Labuan and Terengganu recording none.
The 177 discharges were outpaced by new cases as total recoveries rose to 4,996,409 (99%) while active cases rose 13 to 9,219 – with 8,888 (96.4%) in home quarantine, 325 (3.5%) hospitalised and none at Low-Risk Covid19 Quarantine and Treatment Centres (PKRC).
Numbers at intensive care units dipped to six Covid19 patients, with three needing breathing aids.
The grim statistic of lives lost to Covid19 paused for the whole week to keep the death toll at 36,957 – with brought-in-dead cases subtotal at 7,873 casualties.
