PUTRAJAYA, 27 Feb 2023:

Malaysia Covid19 daily new case reports during the latest 24 hours under review stood at 207 persons recording positive tests – with an imported case – to raise the nation’s tally to 5,042,395 infections.

Worryingly, most of the new infections are among those who had already received boosted vaccinations (138) or fully vaccinated (43) while unvaccinated persons numbered 24 and two partially vaccinated.

Selangor (74) reported the most new cases, followed by Kuala Lumpur (51), Perak (16), Melaka (11) and Kedah (10). Single digits were recorded in Negeri Sembilan (8), Terengganu (8), Putrajaya (7), Johor (6), Pahang (5), Sarawak (5), Penang (4), Perlis (1), Sabah (1), Kelantan and Labuan recording none.

The 175 discharges were outpaced by new cases as total recoveries rose to 4,996,232 (99%) while active cases rose 32 to 9,206 – with 8,871 (96.4%) in home quarantine, 325 (3.5%) hospitalised and none at Low-Risk Covid19 Quarantine and Treatment Centres (PKRC).

Numbers at intensive care units stood at 10 Covid19 patients, with six needing breathing aids.

The grim statistic of lives lost to Covid19 paused for the sixth consecutive day to keep the death toll at 36,957 – with brought-in-dead cases subtotal at 7,873 casualties.
