Malaysia Covid19 daily new case reports during the latest 24 hours under review stood at 204 persons recording positive tests – with five imported cases – to raise the nation’s tally to 5,042,015 infections.

Worryingly, most of the new infections are among those who had already received boosted vaccinations (151) or fully vaccinated (34) while unvaccinated persons numbered 19.

Selangor (67) reported the most new cases, followed by Kuala Lumpur (66), Perak (11), Johor (10) and Melaka (10). Single digits were recorded in Negeri Sembilan (9), Putrajaya (7), Sarawak (7), Penang (5), Kedah (4), Kelantan (3), Pahang (2), Labuan (1), Perlis (1), Sabah (5) and Terengganu recording none.

The 254 discharges outpaced new cases as total recoveries rose to 4,995,838 (99%) while active cases dipped 50 to 9,220 – with 8,907 (96.6%) in home quarantine, 304 (3.3%) hospitalised and none at Low-Risk Covid19 Quarantine and Treatment Centres (PKRC).

Numbers at intensive care units stood at nine Covid19 patients, with six needing breathing aids.

The grim statistic of lives lost to Covid19 paused for the fourth consecutive day to keep the death toll at 36,957 – with brought-in-dead cases subtotal at 7,873 casualties.
