Malaysia Covid19 daily new case reports during the latest 24 hours under review stood at 224 persons recording positive tests – with an imported case – to raise the nation’s tally to 5,041,811 infections.

Worryingly, most of the new infections are among those who had already received boosted vaccinations (168) or fully vaccinated (33) while unvaccinated persons numbered 23.

Selangor (66) reported the most new cases, followed by Kuala Lumpur (57), Melaka (19), Sarawak (18) and Perak (16). Single digits were recorded in Penang (9), Johor (8), Negeri Sembilan (7), Kedah (5), Kelantan (5), Sabah (5), Putrajaya (4), Terengganu (4), Pahang (1); with Labuan and Perlis recording none.

The 278 discharges outpaced new cases as total recoveries rose to 4,995,584 (99%) while active cases dipped 54 to 9,270 – with 8,952 (96.6%) in home quarantine, 309 (3.3%) hospitalised and none at Low-Risk Covid19 Quarantine and Treatment Centres (PKRC).

Numbers at intensive care units stood at nine Covid19 patients, with seven needing breathing aids.
