Malaysia Covid19 daily new case reports during the latest 24 hours under review stood at 281 persons recording positive tests – with an imported case – to raise the nation’s tally to 5,040,368 infections.

Worryingly, most of the new infections are among those who had already received boosted vaccinations (190) or fully vaccinated (61) while unvaccinated persons numbered 28 and two partially vaccinated.

Selangor (105) reported the most new cases, followed by Kuala Lumpur (89), Melaka (15) and Johor (10). Single digits were recorded in Kedah (8), Negeri Sembilan (8), Pahang (8), Perak (8), Sarawak (8), Putrajaya (7), Terengganu (6), Kelantan (5), Sabah (2), Penang (1), Perlis (1) and Labuan none.

The 257 discharges were outpaced by new cases as total recoveries rose to 4,994,015 (99%) while active cases rose 24 to 9,399 – with 9,072 (96.5%) in home quarantine, 319 (3.4%) hospitalised and none at Low-Risk Covid19 Quarantine and Treatment Centres (PKRC).

Numbers at intensive care units stood at eight Covid19 patients, with two needing breathing aids.

The grim statistic of lives lost to Covid19 paused to keep the death toll at 36,954 – and brought-in-dead cases subtotal at 7,872 casualties.
