Malaysia Covid19 daily new case reports during the latest 24 hours under review stood at 237 persons recording positive tests – with an imported case – to raise the nation’s tally to 5,040,087 infections.
Worryingly, most of the new infections are among those who had already received boosted vaccinations (171) or fully vaccinated (42) while unvaccinated persons numbered 23 and one partially vaccinated.
Selangor (79) reported the most new cases, followed by Kuala Lumpur (67), Sarawak (14), Penang (12) and Melaka (11). Single digits were recorded in Johor (9), Putrajaya (8), Kedah (7), Perak (7), Kelantan (5), Negeri Sembilan (5), Pahang (5), Sabah (5), Labuan (2), Perlis (1) and Terengganu none.
The 215 discharges were outpaced by new cases as total recoveries rose to 4,993,758 (99%) while active cases rose 21 to 9,375 – with 9,050 (96.5%) in home quarantine, 317 (3.4%) hospitalised and none at Low-Risk Covid19 Quarantine and Treatment Centres (PKRC).
Numbers at intensive care units dipped to eight Covid19 patients, with four needing breathing aids.
The grim statistic of lives lost to Covid19 saw one more fatality to raise the death toll to 36,954 – being a brought-in-dead case to raise this subtotal to 7,872 casualties. The casualty involved a boosted person.
