Pre-Endemic day 320: Covid19 new daily case reports at 200

PUTRAJAYA, 15 Feb 2023:

Malaysia Covid19 daily new case reports during the latest 24 hours under review stood at 200 persons recording positive tests – with an imported case – to raise the nation’s tally to 5,039,850 infections.

Worryingly, most of the new infections are among those who had already received boosted vaccinations (132) or fully vaccinated (42) while unvaccinated persons numbered 24 and two partially vaccinated.

Selangor (62) reported the most new cases, followed by Kuala Lumpur (45), Melaka (13) and Terengganu (13). Single digits were recorded in Kelantan (9), Sarawak (9), Kedah (8), Putrajaya (8), Johor (7), Negeri Sembilan (7), Perak (6), Sabah (6), Penang (4), Pahang (2), Perlis (1) and Labuan none.

The 155 discharges were outpaced by new cases as total recoveries rose to 4,993,543 (99%) while active cases rose 44 to 9,354 – with 9,010 (96.3%) in home quarantine, 333 (3.6%) hospitalised and none at Low-Risk Covid19 Quarantine and Treatment Centres (PKRC).

Numbers at intensive care units stood at 11 Covid19 patients, with five needing breathing aids.

The grim statistic of lives lost to Covid19 saw one more fatality to raise the death toll to 36,953 – while the brought-in-dead cases subtotal stayed at 7,871 casualties. The casualty involved an unvaccinated person.
