PUTRAJAYA, 14 Feb 2023:
Malaysia Covid19 daily new case reports during the latest 24 hours under review stood at 164 persons recording positive tests – with two imported cases – to raise the nation’s tally to 5,039,650 infections.
Worryingly, most of the new infections are among those who had already received boosted vaccinations (118) or fully vaccinated (29) while unvaccinated persons numbered 17.
Kuala Lumpur (57) reported the most new cases, followed by Selangor (43) and Johor (20). Single digits were recorded in Kedah (9), Melaka (8), Negeri Sembilan (6), Sabah (6), Kelantan (4), Sarawak (3), Pahang (2), Penang (2), Perak (2), Labuan (1) and Putrajaya (1); Perlis and Terengganu recorded none.
The 254 discharges outpaced new cases as total recoveries rose to 4,993,388 (99%) while active cases fell 91 to 9,310 – with 8,978 (96.4%) in home quarantine, 321 (3.4%) hospitalised and none at Low-Risk Covid19 Quarantine and Treatment Centres (PKRC).
Numbers at intensive care units rose to 11 Covid19 patients, with six needing breathing aids.
The grim statistic of lives lost to Covid19 saw one more fatality to raise the death toll to 36,952 – while the brought-in-dead cases subtotal stayed at 7,871 casualties. The casualty involved a boosted person.
