Pre-Endemic day 318: Covid19 new daily case reports dip to 160

PUTRAJAYA, 13 Feb 2023:

Malaysia Covid19 daily new case reports during the latest 24 hours under review dipped to 160 persons recording positive tests – with an imported case – to raise the nation’s tally to 5,039,486 infections.

Worryingly, most of the new infections are among those who had already received boosted vaccinations (109) or fully vaccinated (32) while unvaccinated persons numbered 18 and one partially vaccinated.

Selangor (63) reported the most new cases, followed by Kuala Lumpur (31), Melaka (12) and Johor (10). Single digits were recorded in Negeri Sembilan (9), Sabah (8), Perak (6), Kedah (4), Sarawak (4), Terengganu (4), Kelantan (2), Pahang (2), Penang (2), Putrajaya (2), Labuan (1) and Perlis none.

The 358 discharges outpaced new cases as total recoveries rose to 4,993,134 (99%) while active cases fell 198 to 9,401 – with 9,068 (96.5%) in home quarantine, 324 (3.4%) hospitalised and none at Low-Risk Covid19 Quarantine and Treatment Centres (PKRC).

Numbers at intensive care units dipped to nine Covid19 patients, with four needing breathing aids.

The grim statistic of lives lost to Covid19 paused to keep the death toll at 36,951 – while the brought-in-dead cases subtotal stayed at 7,871 casualties.
