PUTRAJAYA, 11 Feb 2023:
Malaysia Covid19 daily new case reports during the latest 24 hours under review saw 269 persons record positive tests – with three imported cases – to raise the nation’s tally to 5,039,067 infections.
Worryingly, most of the new infections are among those who had already received boosted vaccinations (197) or fully vaccinated (35) while unvaccinated persons numbered 20 and three partially vaccinated.
Selangor (85) reported the most new cases, followed by Kuala Lumpur (81), Melaka (16), Sarawak (13), Johor (11) and Penang (11). Single digits were recorded in Sabah (8), Perak (7), Putrajaya (7), Negeri Sembilan (6), Kedah (5), Pahang (3) and Kelantan (2); while Labuan, Perlis and Terengganu reported none.
The 306 discharges outpaced new cases as total recoveries rose to 4,992,386 (99%) while active cases fell 55 to 9,731 – with 9,392 (96.5%) in home quarantine, 327 (3.4%) hospitalised and none at Low-Risk Covid19 Quarantine and Treatment Centres (PKRC).
Numbers at intensive care units rose to 12 Covid19 patients, with five needing breathing aids.
The grim statistic of lives lost to Covid19 added another four fatalities to raise the death toll to 36,950 – while the brought-in-dead cases subtotal stayed at 7,871 casualties. The latest deaths involved one each of boosted, fully vaccinated, partially vaccinated and unvaccinated persons.
