Pre-Endemic day 315: Covid19 new daily case reports up to 269

PUTRAJAYA, 10 Feb 2023:

Malaysia Covid19 daily new case reports during the latest 24 hours under review rose above the 200 mark after three straight days as 269 persons recorded positive tests – with an imported case – to raise the nation’s tally to 5,038,812 infections.

Worryingly, most of the new infections are among those who had already received boosted vaccinations (189) or fully vaccinated (42) while unvaccinated persons numbered 35 and three partially vaccinated.

Kuala Lumpur (77) reported the most new cases, followed by Selangor (65), Perak (19), Melaka (18), Sarawak (16), Pahang (15), Kedah (11) and Johor (10). Single digits were recorded in Putrajaya (9), Penang (8), Sabah (8), Terengganu (7), Kelantan (3) and Negeri Sembilan (3); while Labuan and Perlis reported none.

The 375 discharges outpaced new cases as total recoveries rose to 4,992,080 (99%) while active cases fell 106 to 9,786 – with 9,391 (96%) in home quarantine, 387 (4%) hospitalised and none at Low-Risk Covid19 Quarantine and Treatment Centres (PKRC).

Numbers at intensive care units stood at eight Covid19 patients, with four needing breathing aids.

The grim statistic of lives lost to Covid19 paused for the second consecutive day to keep the death toll at 36,946 – and brought-in-dead cases subtotal stayed at 7,871 casualties.
