PUTRAJAYA, 7 Feb 2023:
Malaysia Covid19 daily new case reports during the latest 24 hours under review dipped to 175 persons recording positive tests – with an imported case – to raise the nation’s tally to 5,038,170 infections.
Worryingly, most of the new infections are among those who had already received boosted vaccinations (111) or fully vaccinated (35) while unvaccinated persons numbered 29.
Selangor (68) reported the most new cases, followed by Kuala Lumpur (28), Kelantan (11) and Pahang (10). Single digits were recorded in Melaka (9), Penang (8), Kedah (7), Johor (6), Putrajaya (6), Sabah (6), Sarawak (6), Negeri Sembilan (5) and Perak (5); while Labuan, Perlis and Terengganu reported none.
The 196 discharges outpaced new cases as total recoveries rose to 4,991,173 (99%) while active cases dipped 22 to 10,053 – with 9,659 (96.1%) in home quarantine, 388 (3.9%) hospitalised and none at Low-Risk Covid19 Quarantine and Treatment Centres (PKRC).
Numbers at intensive care units fell to six Covid19 patients, with five needing breathing aids.
The grim statistic of lives lost to Covid19 saw one more fatality to raise the death toll to 36,944 – being a brought-in-dead case to raise this subtotal to 7,871 casualties. The casualty was a fully vaccinated person.
