PUTRAJAYA, 4 Feb 2023:
Malaysia Covid19 daily new case reports during the latest 24 hours under review stood at 340 persons recording positive tests – with an imported case – to raise the nation’s tally to 5,037,582 infections.
Worryingly, most of the new infections are among those who had already received boosted vaccinations (252) or fully vaccinated (59) while unvaccinated persons numbered 28 and one partially vaccinated.
Selangor (166) reported the most new cases, followed by Kuala Lumpur (67), Melaka (18), Johor (14), Sarawak (14), Penang (13) and Perak (10). Single digits were recorded in Negeri Sembilan (9), Kedah (8), Pahang (8), Kelantan (7), Putrajaya (3), Sabah (2) and Perlis (1), while Labuan and Terengganu reported none.
The 203 discharges were outpaced by new cases as total recoveries rose to 4,990,430 (99%) while active cases rose 137 to 10,210 – with 9,823 (96.2%) in home quarantine, 408 (4.1%) hospitalised and none at Low-Risk Covid19 Quarantine and Treatment Centres (PKRC).
Numbers at intensive care units fell to just eight Covid19 patients, with five needing breathing aids.
The grim statistic of lives lost to Covid19 paused for the fourth straight day to keep the death toll at 36,942 – with brought-in-dead cases subtotal staying at 7,870 casualties.
