Pre-Endemic day 304: Covid19 new daily case reports at 269, no deaths

PUTRAJAYA, 30 Jan 2023:

Malaysia Covid19 daily new case reports during the latest 24 hours under review stood at 269 persons recording positive tests – with three imported cases – to raise the nation’s tally to 5,036,140 infections.

Worryingly, most of the new infections are among those who had already received boosted vaccinations (185) or fully vaccinated (48) while unvaccinated persons numbered 25.

Selangor (110) reported the most new cases, followed by Kuala Lumpur (50), Melaka (16), Putrajaya (14), Kedah (13) and Johor (11). Single digits were recorded in Negeri Sembilan (9), Penang (9), Perak (8), Pahang (7), Terengganu (4), Sabah (3), Kelantan (1) while Labuan and Perlis reported none.

The 285 discharges outpaced new cases as total recoveries rose to 4,989,720 (99%) while active cases dipped 16 to 9,480 – with 9,088 (95.9%) in home quarantine, 371 (3.9%) hospitalised and none at Low-Risk Covid19 Quarantine and Treatment Centres (PKRC).

Numbers at intensive care units rose to 21 Covid19 patients, with 14 needing breathing aids.

The grim statistic of lives lost to Covid19 paused to keep the death toll at 36,940 – with brought-in-dead case subtotal ar 7,870 casualties.
