PUTRAJAYA, 29 Jan 2023:
Malaysia Covid19 daily new case reports during the latest 24 hours under review stood at 258 persons recording positive tests – with two imported cases – to raise the nation’s tally to 5,035,871 infections.
Worryingly, most of the new infections are among those who had already received boosted vaccinations (185) or fully vaccinated (48) while unvaccinated persons numbered 25.
Selangor (104) reported the most new cases, followed by Kuala Lumpur (51), Putrajaya (22), Johor (17), Sarawak (17) and Perak (14). Single digits were recorded in Penang (8), Melaka (6), Negeri Sembilan (5), Pahang (4), Kedah (3), Terengganu (3), Kelantan (1), Labuan (1), Perlis (1) and Sabah (1).
The 309 discharges outpaced new cases as total recoveries rose to 4,989,435 (99%) while active cases fell 53 to 9,496 – with 9,109 (95.9%) in home quarantine, 370 (3.9%) hospitalised and none at Low-Risk Covid19 Quarantine and Treatment Centres (PKRC).
Numbers at intensive care units rose to 17 Covid19 patients, with 14 needing breathing aids.
The grim statistic of lives lost to Covid19 added another two fatalities to raise the death toll to 36,940 – with another brought-in-dead case raising this subtotal to 7,870 casualties. Both deaths involved boosted persons.
