Malaysia Covid19 daily new case reports during the latest 24 hours under review stood at 236 persons recording positive tests – with three imported cases – to raise the nation’s tally to 5,035,613 infections.

Worryingly, most of the new infections are among those who had already received boosted vaccinations (147) or fully vaccinated (48) while unvaccinated persons numbered 39 and two partially vaccinated.

Selangor (78) reported the most new cases, followed by Kuala Lumpur (52), Melaka (23), Sarawak (22) and Perak  (11). Single digits were recorded in Johor (8), Kedah (8), Sabah (8), Negari Sembilan (7), Pahang (7), Penang (6), Terengganu (5), Kelantan (1), with none in Labuan, Perlia and Putrajaya.

The 312 discharges outpaced new cases as total recoveries rose to 4,989,126 (99%) while active cases fell 78 to 9,549 – with 9,133 (95.6%) in home quarantine, 402 (4.2%) hospitalised and none at Low-Risk Covid19 Quarantine and Treatment Centres (PKRC).

Numbers at intensive care units stood at 14 Covid19 patients, with 11 needing breathing aids.

The grim statistic of lives lost to Covid19 added another two fatalities to raise the death toll to 36,938 – with  brought-in-dead cases subtotal staying at 7,869 casualties. The deaths involved a boosted person and one fully vaccinated.
