Pre-Endemic day 301: Covid19 new daily case reports at 172

PUTRAJAYA, 27 Jan 2023:

Malaysia Covid19 daily new case reports during the latest 24 hours under review stood at 172 persons recording positive tests – with an imported case – to raise the nation’s tally to 5,035,377 infections.

Worryingly, most of the new infections are among those who had already received boosted vaccinations (103) or fully vaccinated (38) while unvaccinated persons numbered 28 and three partially vaccinated.

Selangor (58) reported the most new cases, followed by Kuala Lumpur (35), Kedah (13), Sarawak (12) and Johor (10). Single digits were recorded in Kelantan (9), Perak (8), Melaka (7), Sabah (5), Negari Sembilan (4), Penang (4), Putrajaya (3), Labuan (2), Terengganu (2) while Pahang and Perlis had none.

The 325 discharges outpaced new cases as total recoveries rose to 4,988,814 (99%) while active cases fell 156 to 9,627 – with 9,245 (96%) in home quarantine, 369 (3.8%) hospitalised and none at Low-Risk Covid19 Quarantine and Treatment Centres (PKRC).

Numbers at intensive care units stood at 13 Covid19 patients, with 10 needing breathing aids.

The grim statistic of lives lost to Covid19 added another three fatalities to raise the death toll to 36,936 – with all being brought-in-dead cases to raise this subtotal to 7,869 casualties. The deaths involved two fully vaccinated persons and one unvaccinated.
