Pre-Endemic day 300: Covid19 new daily case reports at 132

PUTRAJAYA, 26 Jan 2023:

Malaysia Covid19 daily new case reports during the latest 24 hours under review stood at 132 persons recording positive tests – with two imported cases – to raise the nation’s tally to 5,035,205 infections.

Worryingly, most of the new infections are among those who had already received boosted vaccinations (81) or fully vaccinated (25) while unvaccinated persons numbered 25 and one partially vaccinated.

Selangor (33) reported the most new cases, followed by Kuala Lumpur (21), Melaka (13), Sarawak (13) and Negeri Sembilan (10). Single digits were recorded in Kedah (7), Sabah (7), Penang (6), Johor (5), Putrajaya (5), Kelantan (4), Perak (4), Perlis (2), Pahang (1), Terengganu (1) and Labuan none.

The 346 discharges outpaced new cases as total recoveries rose to 4,988,489 (99%) while active cases fell 215 to 9,783 – with 9,402 (96.1%) in home quarantine, 370 (3.8%) hospitalised and none at Low-Risk Covid19 Quarantine and Treatment Centres (PKRC).

Numbers at intensive care units stood at 11 Covid19 patients, with 10 needing breathing aids.

The grim statistic of lives lost to Covid19 added another fatality to raise the death toll to 36,933 – with no brought-in-dead cases for the sixth straight day keeping this subtotal at 7,866 casualties. The death involved a fully vaccinated person.
