PUTRAJAYA, 25 Jan 2023:
Malaysia Covid19 daily new case reports during the latest 24 hours under review fell to 101 persons recording positive tests – with an imported case – to raise the nation’s tally to 5,035,073 infections.
Worryingly, most of the new infections are among those who had already received boosted vaccinations (97) or fully vaccinated (30) while unvaccinated persons numbered 15.
Kuala Lumpur (24) reported the most new cases, followed by Selangor (23) and Negeri Sembilan (11). Single digits were recorded in Sarawak (9), Melaka (8), Johor (5), Kedah (5), Perak (4), Sabah (4), Kelantan (2), Pahang (2), Terengganu (2), Perlis (1), Putrajaya (1), with Penang and Labuan none.
The 315 discharges outpaced new cases as total recoveries rose to 4,988,143 (99%) while active cases fell 214 to 9,998 – with 9,635 (96.4%) in home quarantine, 351 (3.5%) hospitalised and none at Low-Risk Covid19 Quarantine and Treatment Centres (PKRC).
Numbers at intensive care units dipped to 11 Covid19 patients, with 10 needing breathing aids.
The grim statistic of lives lost to Covid19 paused with the third straight day of no new fatalities to keep the death toll at 36,932 – and brought-in-dead cases subtotal at 7,866 casualties.
