PUTRAJAYA, 3 Dec 2022:
Malaysia’s Covid-19 new daily case reports during the latest 24 hours under review saw 2,421 persons recording positive tests – with two imported cases – to raise the nation’s tally to 4,996,964 infections.
Worryingly, most of the new infections are among those who had already received boosted vaccinations (1,626) or fully vaccinated (544). Unvaccinated persons numbered 241, with 10 partially vaccinated.
Selangor (1,000) reported the highest number of new cases, followed by Kuala Lumpur (174), Sabah (173), Sarawak (156), Melaka (153), Kedah (135), Pahang (107) and Penang (102), while double digits were charted in Perak (85), Kelantan (84), Negeri Sembilan (64), Terengganu (64), Putrajaya (49), Johor (38), Labuan (22) and Perlis (15).
The 2,826 discharges outpaced new cases as total recoveries rose to 4,936,207 (98.8%) while active cases fell 414 to 24,053 – with 22,258 (92.5%) in home quarantine, 1,698 (7.1%) hospitalised and none at Low-Risk Covid-19 Quarantine and Treatment Centres (PKRC).
Numbers at intensive care units rose to 97 Covid-19 patients, with 62 needing breathing aids.
The grim statistic of lives lost to Covid-19 added nine fatalities to raise the death toll to 36,704 – with another three brought-in-dead cases raising this subtotal to 7,813 casualties. The deaths involved three boosted persons and six fully vaccinated.
