Pre-Endemic day 227: Covid-19 new daily case reports slip to 2,234

PUTRAJAYA, 14 Nov 2022:

Malaysia’s Covid-19 new daily case reports during the latest 24 hours under review have further dipped to 2,234 persons recording positive tests – with two imported cases – to raise the nation’s tally to 4,948,817 infections.

Worryingly, most of the new infections are among those who had already received boosted vaccinations (1,529) or fully vaccinated (468). Unvaccinated persons numbered 224, with 13 partially vaccinated.

Selangor (957) reported the highest number of new cases, followed by Sabah (188), Kuala Lumpur (176), Penang (135), Melaka (134), Negeri Sembilan (122) and Perak (106), while double digits were charted in Kedah (90), Kelantan (84), Sarawak (82), Pahang (55), Johor (53), Terengganu (23) and Putrajaya (17). Single digit new cases were recorded in Labuan (9) and Perlis (3).

The 3,836 discharges far outpaced new cases as total recoveries rose to 4,882,664 (98.6%) while active cases fell 1,604 to 29,605 – with 27,666 (93.5%) in home quarantine, 1,848 (6.2%) hospitalised and none at Low-Risk Covid-19 Quarantine and Treatment Centres (PKRC).

Numbers at intensive care units rose to 91 Covid-19 patients, with 57 needing breathing aids.

The grim statistic of lives lost to Covid-19 added two fatalities to raise the death toll to 36,548 – with no brought-in-dead cases keeping this subtotal at 7,776 casualties. The deaths involved one fully vaccinated and one unvaccinated.
