PUTRAJAYA, 12 Nov 2022:
Malaysia’s Covid-19 new daily case reports during the latest 24 hours under review remained steady as 3,245 persons recorded positive tests – with three imported cases – to raise the nation’s tally to 4,943,701 infections.
Worryingly, most of the new infections are among those who had already received boosted vaccinations (2,164) or fully vaccinated (781). Unvaccinated persons numbered 276, with 24 partially vaccinated.
Selangor (1,272) reported the highest number of new cases, followed by Kuala Lumpur (421), Melaka (264), Sabah (204), Penang (160), Sarawak (139), Kedah (125), Negeri Sembilan (123), Kelantan (107) and Putrajaya (104), while double digits were charted in Perak (93), Pahang (88), Johor (75), Terengganu (43), Perlis (17) and Labuan (10).
The 4,208 discharges outpaced new cases as total recoveries rose to 4,874,177 (98.6%) while active cases fell 967 to 32,987 – with 31,108 (94.3%) in home quarantine, 1,792 (5.4%) hospitalised and none at Low-Risk Covid-19 Quarantine and Treatment Centres (PKRC).
Numbers at intensive care units dipped to 87 Covid-19 patients, with 63 needing breathing aids.
The grim statistic of lives lost to Covid-19 added four fatalities to raise the death toll to 36,537 – with another brought-in-dead case raising this subtotal to 7,773 casualties. The deaths involved one boosted person and three unvaccinated. The latest death toll also includes the addition of nine fatalities not previously factored.
