Pre-Endemic day 222: Covid-19 new daily case reports at 3,781

PUTRAJAYA, 9 Nov 2022:

Flitting still around the 4,000 mark, Malaysia’s Covid-19 new daily case reports during the latest 24 hours under review rose to 3,781 persons recording positive tests – with three imported cases – to raise the nation’s tally to 4,933,753 infections.

Worryingly, most of the new infections are among those who had already received boosted vaccinations (2,662) or fully vaccinated (860). Unvaccinated persons numbered 245, with 14 partially vaccinated.

Selangor (1,515) reported the highest number of new cases, followed by Kuala Lumpur (561), Negeri Sembilan (228), Putrajaya (226), Melaka (212), Sabah (176), Perak (163), Kelantan (156), Kedah (145) and Penang (102), while double digits were charted in Pahang (82), Sarawak (80), Johor (67) and Terengganu (63). Single digit new cases were recorded in Labuan (3) and Perlis (2).

The 2,979 discharges were outpaced by new cases as total recoveries rose to 4,861,792 (98.5%) while active cases rose 793 to 35,457 – with 33,706 (95.1%) in home quarantine, 1,676 (4.7%) hospitalised and none at Low-Risk Covid-19 Quarantine and Treatment Centres (PKRC).

Numbers at intensive care units were steady at 75 Covid-19 patients, with 47 needing breathing aids.

The grim statistic of lives lost to Covid-19 added nine fatalities to raise the death toll to 36,504 – with another three brought-in-dead cases to raise this subtotal to 7,770 casualties. The deaths involved two boosted persons, six fully vaccinated and one unvaccinated.
