Just 1 tahfiz school in Negeri Sembilan meets fire safety standards

SEREMBAN, 9 Nov 2017: 

Only one of 64 tahfiz schools in Negeri Sembilan has complied with safety requirements specified by the Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM), said Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan.

He said, of the total, 41 had yet to register with the State Education Department and the Negeri Sembilan Islamic Religious Council.

“Tahfiz schools who have not met the JBPM safety specifications and have not registered are given until June next year to do so. Errant schools will be closed down immediately.”

The only tahfiz school which meets the JBPM safety specification is Maahad Ahmadi Negeri Sembilan, Gemencheh which is under the state government.

Separately, over 6,000 state civil servants in Negeri Sembilan will receive bonus of RM2,000 which will be paid in stages beginning December.

Mohamad Hasan said of the total, RM500 would be paid in December this year, RM500 in January 2018, and the remaining RM1,000 during Hari Raya Adilfitri 2018.

“The bonus payout will involve all employees of the state government, including those under local authorities and state government agencies.”

The federal civil servants, however, would receive RM1,500 bonus as announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak during the tabling of the 2018 Budget recently.

Of the total, RM1,000 would be paid in January, while the remaining RM500, during Aidilfitri.
