KUALA LUMPUR, 15 June 2017:
E-hailing taxi service company Grab Malaysia has been urged to implement the ‘panic button’ application for its service for the safety of passengers by July 31 at the latest.
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri said the matter was among the issues discussed at the special meeting with Grab Malaysia yesterday.
“The meeting also discussed the method used in appointing GrabCar drivers and measures to prevent nasty incidents experienced by passengers.
“They expressed their commitment and willingness to implement the panic button application immediately to ensure the safety of passengers”
Nancy said the panic button application had the Global Positioning System – which was linked to the Royal Malaysian Police to monitor the safety of consumers.
