Free rides on Kelana Jaya LRT line for 7 days

KUALA LUMPUR, 13 Nov 2022:

Commuters using the Kelana Jaya LRT line – which will be reopened to operate as usual tomorrow morning from 6am – will enjoy free rides for seven days till Sunday Nov 20. This offer is for all commuters, including non-Malaysians.

In a statement, the public train and bus services operator Prasarana Malaysia Bhd the free rides are valid for all commuters who either start or end their rides on any Kelana Jaya line station.

So if a commuter gets on a coach from any of these services – Ampang line, BRT, Monorail, MRT Kajang or MRT Putrajaya – and switches to end the ride at any Kelana Jaya line station, the ride will be free. The same happens for converse journeys starting from Kelana Jaya line stations.

But if the commuter’s journey starts and ends along these train lines – Ampang line, BRT, Monorail, MRT Kajang or MRT Putrajaya – the usual fares will be charged.

To qualify for these free rides, commuters can continue using existing Touch ‘n Go cards as usual while single ride tokens will need to be exchanged at the exit counters.

For commuters using the My50 monthly passes, the free seven days ride will be added on when the pass is next renewed. During this free ride period till Sunday Nov 20, no new My50 passes can be obtained.

Prasarana clarified this free ride offer does not apply to the MyCity or Keluarga Malaysia passes.

The free ride offer comes after LRT services were suspended for seven days from Nov 9 for 16 stations along the Kelana Jaya line – due to a fault in the automated train control (ATC) system.

As experts for this system from Thales had arrived and fixed this problem, full LRT services have been allowed to resume earlier – but the free ride compensation period continues to be applied for the seven days suspension announced earlier.
