The fare rates for Rapid KL city rail services – Mass Rapid Transit (MRT), Light Rail Transit (LRT), Monorail and Rapid Transit Bus (BRT) – will be back to normal as of Friday Sept 1.
Commuters have been enjoying a 50% discount since July 18.
Rapid Rail Sdn Bhd chief executive officer Datuk Zohari Sulaiman said consumers could however still enjoy up to a 20% discount on cash fares – by using cashless modes such as MyRapid Touch ‘n Go or other Touch ‘n Go cards.
“Frequent commuters can also purchase special cashless packages such as “Smart 7 “or” Smart 30″ which offer additional discounts, tailored to their suitability and travel patterns,” he said in a statement.
Zohari said the company would continue to introduce new initiatives for passenger comfort and supported the government’s aspiration to increase ‘modal share’ for public transport to 40% by 2030.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak – when opening the second phase of the MRT Sungai Buloh-Kajang Line on July 17 – announced a 50% discount on all MRT, LRT, BRT and Monorail rides from July 18 to Aug 31.
