PETALING JAYA, 9 Oct 2019:
Just in time for the 10th anniversary of the Angry Birds mobile device game which took the world by storm, Malaysia will host the first ever water park featuring inflatables depicting these characters created by Finnish firm Rovio Entertainment.
The world’s first Angry Birds Splash Water World will be opened in Semenyih this November, coinciding with the Malaysian public school year-end holidays.
The water park at Setia Ecohill will open to the public on Nov 22 and operate till Jan 5 in the new year. It will be open three days weekly – Friday, Saturday and Sunday – unless there are public holidays on the other days when scheduled maintenance and cleaning would be conducted.
“Only 2,000 tickets will be available to the public per day, to ensure smooth operation and a great experience for all,” said Alvin Lee, director at this unique water park organiser One Universal Production Sdn Bhd.
He promised loveable characters in the franchise – including Red, Chuck, Bomb, Terence, Mighty Eagle plus the Hatchlings – will be featured across the Angry Birds Splash Water World.
Beyond featuring the tallest water slide at 12m height, he said there will also be characters parade, characters meet-and-greet and non-scripted dance activities to entertain visitors.
Lee said this venue will only be the first of three planned for Malaysia all through to end-2020, but was coy about disclosing their locations, except to hint one will be in East Malaysia. This inflatables water park will also tour across Asia, with details to be announced later.
