New Seremban soup kitchen also offers free showers

SEREMBAN, 20 Jan 2020:

Every Monday to Saturday, Dapur Kausar, a soup kitchen owned by Pertubuhan Penyayang Negeri Sembilan located at Jalan Kapitan Tam Yeong here, will be flocked by the less fortunate for free meals.

Pertubuhan Penyayang Negeri Sembilan chairperson Fauziah Raduan said Dapur Kausar – which just started its operations on Jan 6 – provides free food, showers as well as laundry services to the homeless, asnaf (tithe recipients), orphans and people with disabilities.

“Due to my sympathy, I feel called to open this centre to help them by providing free meals which are prepared by members of the association.

“We do not provide accommodation. We gave out free meals and provide bathrooms and laundry facilities for them to clean up and wash their clothes,” she said when met here today.

Fauziah said in addition to free food, she and other members of the association would also provide advice and guidance on personal hygiene to the homeless.

“There are homeless people who are scruffy in appearance, so we will advise and guide them on cleanliness, eventually they will begin to practise good personal hygiene habit on their own.”

Fauziah, who is also the supervisor of Rumah Anak Yatim Kausar, in Taman Marida near here said Dapur Kausar – which opens from 10am until 9pm – was self-funded with the help of Pertubuhan Penyayang Negeri Sembilan treasurer Azlinna Ali, and depended on donations from the public.

“We funded the food ourselves. There are also public donations in the form of essential goods and money to the centre.

“We do not make any profit as our intention is sincere. We feel very satisfied and happy to see this group receive much-needed assistance and is not neglected.”

She also hoped that more people would come forward to help and support Dapur Kausar’s efforts in helping the needy, not only through donations but also by doing their volunteering work.

“We also need more moral support from the public so that we can continue to help those in need.”
