Tealive branches out into skincare

KUALA LUMPUR, 3 March 2020:

Going beyond simply as a beverage chain, Tealive is partnering with halal skincare and beauty firm Safi to launch the ‘Beautea’ range of cleansers.

Loob Holding Sdn Bhd founder and chief executive officer Bryan Loo said the power of tea has brought together two leading home-grown brands to collaborate and showcase the benefits.

“There are many types of tea that are known for their health benefits and anti-inflammatory properties when consumed. But it also goes beyond drinking as, when applied on the outside, it can also have a positive effect on our skin.”

This endeavour is backed by modern research into wide-ranging health benefits gained from consuming tea – such as helping to lower blood cholesterol and triglyceride levels for heart health, protects the brain and reduces diabetes risk.

“For example, black tea is slightly bitter and it has the highest caffeine content amongst all teas. It has been found to lower cholesterol and reduce the risk of stroke, diabetes and arthritis,” noted Loo.

“Research also reveals that it helps to protect teeth against plaque formation, lower stress and boost energy levels without causing palpitations.

“Green tea has all the good qualities of black tea with several more bonus benefits. Some research findings show that it can slow down the growth of breast, lung, stomach and colorectal cancers besides some fat-burning and metabolism-boosting properties.”

With the Safi partnership, Tealive aims to extend the reach of its research labs – an offer welcomed by Safi products distributor Wipro Unza Malaysia.

Product manager Kazlina Kassim said tea-based skincare is growing and gaining popularity with consumers looking towards more natural skincare nowadays.

She noted tea is commonly used as an ingredient in skincare because it has many wonderful benefits for the skin and it contains high concentration of antioxidants that are natural forms of defense for the skin.

“Antioxidants reduce, neutralise and protect the skin cells from harmful free radical damage. However, with increase of age, our skin produces less antioxidants, therefore, externally sourced antioxidants are the solution. As a result, tea extract is used as an active ingredient in various skincare formulations.”

With this partnership, four variants of Beautea by Safi is now being offered – Revitalizing Scrub – Apricot Tea; Detox Cleanser – Black Tea & Black Orchid; Anti Acne Gel Cleanser – Green Tea & Neem; Hydrating Gel Cleanser – White Tea & Damask Rose.

Available at Watsons, Guardian, Aeon Wellness & Mydin nationwide, Tealive is offering RM3 discount voucher printed on cup sleeves for every drink purchased – which can be redeemed at Watsons.

Each Beautea purchase also gives RM3 discount voucher printed on product pop-up sticker – redeemable at Tealive outlets.

This “BeauTealive” campaign runs till April 30.
