Several main roads in Ipoh will be closed for the National Day rehearsal and celebration at the Ipoh City Hall here from Sunday Aug 27.
The Ipoh District Police Headquarters, in a statement, said for the National Day rehearsal – that begins from Aug 27 till Aug 29 – road closures and detours would be enforced from 6.30am until the end of the rehearsal sessions, while for the National Day celebration on Aug 31, it would begin from 6am.
The affected routes are the Jalan Bandar Timah/Jalan Sultan Yusuf junction; Jalan Bandar Timah/ Jalan Market junction; Jalan Silang; Jalan Sultan Yusuf /Jalan Lahat traffic light; Jalan Lahat traffic light / Persiaran Kidd; Bahagia roundabout (Medan Kidd roundabout) /Jalan Panglima Bukit Gantang Wahab; Jalan Sultan Idris (Padang Ipoh-Jalan Laxamana).
Meanwhile, the Jalan Panglima Bukit Gantang Wahab junction will be diverted to Jalan Kompleks Islam and the Jalan Kompleks Islam route to Jalan Lim Bo Seng.
“ Road users who want to go to the Ipoh Railway Station can use the alternative route from Jalan Kuala Kangsar-Jalan Tun Abdul Razak-Jalan St. John-Jalan Regat Tun Perak.”
Motorists who want to travel to Ipoh city from Jalan Kuala Kangsar could travel through Jalan Kuala Kangsar-Jalan Raja Musa Aziz-Sultan Iskandar roundabout, or from Jalan Kuala Kangsar-Jalan Panglima Bukit Gantang Wahab -Jalan Kompleks Islam-Jalan Lim Bo Seng.
Meanwhile, from Jalan Kuala Kangsar to Menglembu or Pasir Putih, motorists could travel through Jalan Kuala Kangsar-Jalan Tun Abdul Razak-Bahagia roundabout-Jalan Leong Boon Swee (contra flow route from Bahagia roundabout to Lahat Kidd traffic light).
For motorists who wanted to travel from Jalan Sultan Iskandar to Menglembu or Silibin, they can use Jalan Sultan Iskandar-Jalan Bandar Timah-Jalan Sultan Yusof-Jalan Leong Boon Swee traffic light-Lahat Kidd traffic light route.
