Central Sugars Refinery extends aid to dialysis centres

CYBERJAYA, 8 April 2021:

Central Sugars Refinery Sdn Bhd has donated haemodialysis machines, reverse osmosis (RO) water treatment system and bearing costs for repair work on RO machine to five dialysis centres in the Klang Valley – with a total amount of RM404,500 through its Zakat Wakalah fund.

The firm partnered with Yayasan Islam Darul Ehsan (YIDE) in shortlisting these centres to support the increasing numbers of patients seeking treatments, it said in a statement.

The centres which received the machines are Pusat Rawatan Hemodialisis Felina, Banting; Pusat Dialisis Zara, Klang; Pusat Rawatan Dialisis Islah, Ampang; Platinum Dialysis Centre, Batu Caves and Pusat Dialisis Masjid Jamek Sultan Abdul Aziz at Petaling Jaya that needed repair for their RO machine.

“With the current challenge during this pandemic and struggles through the uncertainty that comes with it, CSR hopes this donation will ease the burdens of these centres in managing and helping patients in need of treatments,” said chief finance officer and Zakat Committee chairman Mohd Azahar Mohd Salleh.

“Educational enrichment, medical assistance and underprivileged community with extensions to caring for its own staff’s wellbeing are CSR’s four pillars of corporate social responsibilities. We see this donation as more than just providing machines to major medical centres, but also doing our part in helping dialysis patients lead better quality lives.”

Prior to this, the firm has donated eight machines of both RO and haemodialysis for centres in the Klang Valley, Terengganu, and Pahang with an amount of RM418,000. It has partnered up with NGOs such as YIDE and Yayasan Kebajikan Negara in carrying out its CSR activities.

The firm had also sponsored a mobile clinic for National Diabetic Institute (NADI) in 2020 to enable NADI to provide a more convenient setting for health screenings during its roadshows for the public in need, all over Malaysia.
