JAKARTA, 26 July 2020:
The total number of Covid-19 positive cases in Indonesia have risen to 98,778 – with 1,492 new cases within a period of 24 hours.
Between noon yesterday and noon today, 67 fatalities were recorded, bringing the death toll to 4,781.
According to the latest data posted on the Indonesian government’s official website regarding Covid-19, www.covid19.go.id, a total of 55,647 patients are still under Covid-19 surveillance.
The province of East Java had the highest number of positive cases at 20,539, followed by Jakarta (19,125) and the rest in 32 other provinces.
East Java also recorded the highest death toll at 1,589, followed Jakarta (759), Central Java (564), South Sulawesi (302) and the rest in other regions.
Indonesian president Joko Widodo had earlier undergone a swab test for Covid-19 and the result showed negative, an official has confirmed.
“The result is good. Thank God, the president is very healthy,” Presidential Secretariat head Heru Budi Hartono told media yesterday.
The Indonesian president – commonly known as Jokowi – had a swab test on Friday afternoon after meeting with Achmad Purnomo, vice mayor of Solo City in Central Java province on Thursday.
Achmad Purnomo told reporters on Friday that he had tested positive for Covid-19.
In MANILA, the number of Covid-19 (coronavirus) cases in the Philippines surged to 80,448 after the Department of Health (DoH) reported 2,110 new cases today.
The number of recoveries further rose to 26,110 after 382 more patients have survived the disease. The death toll also increased to 1,932 after 39 more patients have succumbed to the viral disease, the DoH said.
Singapore has confirmed an additional 481 cases of Covid-19 infection in the republic, with the vast majority still being foreign workers staying in dormitories.
With the new figures, the total infection tally for the city-state now stands at 50,369 cases.
Based on its investigations so far, Singapore’s Ministry of Health (MoH) said there were five cases in the community – all of whom are work pass holders.
In addition, MoH said there were four imported cases, who have been placed on Stay-Home Notice upon arrival in Singapore.
