Singapore Covid-19 cases pass 14,000; Indonesia’s tally crosses 9,000 (updated)

SINGAPORE, 27 April 2020:

Singapore today confirmed 799 new cases of Covid-19 infections, with “vast majority” of the cases attributed to foreign workers residing in dormitories.

The latest figures bring the tally for the republic to 14,423 cases. In a statement here, the republic’s Ministry of Health (MoH) said only 14 cases were Singaporeans or Permanent Residents.

It also reported another two deaths, thus bringing the total to 14. MoH said the two male patients labelled as case 1595 and 9682 died today.

Case 1595, aged 82, was confirmed to have Covid-19 infection on April 8, while Case 9682, aged 81, on April 20. Both elderly were Singaporeans, said the ministry.

As at noon, 1,095 have fully recovered here from the infection and have been discharged from hospitals or community isolation facilities, while 20 are in critical condition in the intensive care units.

The total number of Covid-19 positive cases in Indonesia has crossed the 9,000 mark with death cases rising to 765.

Indonesian government spokesman on Covid-19, Achmad Yurianto said there were 214 new positive cases in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of positive cases to 9,096.

“From noon yesterday to noon today, there were 22 more Covid-19 deaths,” he told the daily media conference aired via the Indonesian National Agency for Disaster Management’s official YouTube channel.

Achmad Yurianto said in the past 24 hours, 44 Covid-19 patients recovered, making the total number of recoveries from the disease to 1,151 patients.
