KUALA LUMPUR, 4 May 2020:
Several Malaysian League (M-League) teams yesterday described the guidelines set by the Malaysian Football Association (FAM) on imposing maximum salary cuts of between 10% and 30% as being reasonable, and not burdensome to officials and players.
The salary adjustment guidelines introduced by FAM on Friday were also deemed as the best formula for some teams that had not reached an agreement with players within the two-week period provided by FAM from April 9.
Kuala Lumpur Football Association (KLFA) secretary-general Nokman Mustaffa said the guidelines were a win-win solution for the management, players and officials of the M-League team.
“Previously, we were only able to agree to a two-month salary cut with the players for April (8-23%) and May (10-25%).
“As the FAM has now issued a guideline, it is likely that from June up until the start of the league, KLFA will follow the salary cut percentage set by FAM,” Nokman was quoted as saying in a statement issued by the Malaysian Football League (MFL) today.
Felda United FC secretary-general Afizal Abu Othman who concurred with the decision also called on all stakeholders, especially M-League teams to abide by the guidelines.
