Kedah Football Association (KFA) has obtained RM30 million in allocation for its 2018 season compared to RM27 million this year – to ensure the Red Hawks are prepared for various challenges next season.
KFA president Datuk Seri Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah said from the RM30 million, RM18 million would be provided by ECK Development Sdn Bhd as the main sponsor of state’s football squad.
“A sum of RM5 million has been set aside to engage the services of five import players and currently the team has two foreign players namely Sandro Da Silva and Liridon Krasniqi.
“We are still searching for three import players and the matter is expected to be resolved by mid-January 2018 to get the squad ready for the Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Cup in February.”
After the 42nd Kedah Football Association Congress at Wisma Darul Aman yesterday, he said the selection of three import players would be made by Ramon Marcote, the newly-appointed chief coach.
At the meeting, KFA honourary secretary Datuk Aminuddin Omar announced that all 36 KFA affiliated members agreed to retain Ahmad Bashah – who is also Kedah Menteri Besar – as KFA president.
Ahmad Bashah who chaired the meeting, thanked all affiliated members and ECK Development Sdn Bhd for their support and confidence in him to continue leading KFA.
On Monday, ECK Development Sdn Bhd director Puan Sri Ginney Chew in a statement said her company would be reconsider its sponsorship if Datuk Seri Ahmad Bashah resigned as KFA president as demanded by certain quarters.
