RM132 million race track for Sabah

KOTA KINABALU, 2 Dec 2018: 

Sabah will be getting an international standard racing circuit when the Kota Kinabalu Industrial Park (KKIP) – through its subsidiary KKIP Autocity Sdn Bhd – takes the initiative to build the infrastructure towards driving the development of motoring sport in the state.

Sabah Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Wilfred Madius Tangau said the location to build the one kilometre racing circuit had been identified and construction was expected to begin next year at a cost of RM132 million.

“The land to build the racing circuit has been identified and is being acquired. The project is phase two of KKIP,” he said when officiating the 2018 KKIP Sabah Drag Battle here yesterday.

The programme which is the second series has been held since Thursday until today, is also participated by motoring clubs from Sarawak, the Peninsula as well as Brunei and Thailand.

It is organised by KKIP Autocity Sdn Bhd with the cooperation of Sabah Bumiputera Automative Association and Parti Warisan Sabah (Warisan) Youth.
