Female teams for 2nd Raja Futsal tourney

KUALA LUMPUR, 27 Aug 2019: 

Following last year’s huge response from local amateur teams across the country, DiGi Telecommunications Sdn Bhd will organise the second edition of the Raja Futsal tournament this year which is set to feature a women’s category for the first time.

DiGi head of marketing services Bernard Lee said the telecommunication company expects to receive more than 1,000 applications to join the amateur futsal tournament, which offers a total prize money of RM100,000 to the winners.

He added that Mozai FT, the champion of the inaugural edition last year, had also confirmed participation this year.

“We hope the new women’s category introduced in this year’s Raja Futsal will further intensify the tournament to create more excitementt,” he said in a statement today.

Mozai FT captain Mohd Alif Fahmin Razali said the team is looking forward to retaining the title they won last year.

“We had a great time participating in last year’s tournament as it gave us exposure to the different styles and skills of teams all over the country.”

The tournament will start with the regional level at six different locations – at Ferro Futsal, Pahang on Sept 21-22; Arena Futsal Yayasan Sabah (Oct 5); Amanjaya Sports Arena in Sungai Petani, Kedah (Oct 12-23); Arena Sarawak in Kuching (Oct 19); Sports Prima in Johor (Nov 2-3) and at KSL Sports in Setapak, here from Nov 9-10.

The top 20 teams from the regionals will advance into the grand final slated to be held in Selangor at the end of November.

The ‘Raja Futsal’ tournament is open to men and women, aged between 18-35 years and interested teams can register on the www.rajafutsalmy.com.

Mozai FT won the inaugural title last year after edging TJJ FC 3-1 in the grand final held at the Panasonic Sports Complex in Shah Alam.
