PETALING JAYA, 21 March 2018:
Forget the beer and chips. There’s an even better snack to compliment your favourite sport – chocolate. Cadbury, to be precise.
Cadbury and leading football authority – the English Premier League – are extending their partnership (which was first announced in the UK last year) to Malaysia.
In Malaysia to launch the exciting partnership today was none other than English football legend Andrew Cole.
Having played for several well-known clubs – including Arsenal, Newcastle United, Manchester City, Manchester United and Portsmouth – the prolific goal-scoring icon said: “Having been to KL before, I knew that Malaysians are extremely passionate about football.
“It’s great that Cadbury shares the Premier League’s focus on delivering moments of joy, making this a great fit.”
And if that isn’t sweet enough, Cadbury is holding a contest in conjunction with their partnership – whereby 10 winners and a friend will stand a chance to win corporate hospitality tickets and an all-expense paid trip to the UK to watch a premier league match of their choice.
The contest runs until May 31 – there are two simple steps to submit an entry: Purchase any Cadbury product worth any amount from any store nationwide; submit the receipt as proof of purchase via WhatsApp to 016-6688576.
The premier league partnership – first announced in the UK last year – builds on Cadbury’s history of iconic sports partnerships including its sponsorship of the London Olympics in 2012.
“This exciting partnership brings together two iconic global brands that have a unique place within popular culture, and the hearts of people,” said Nikhil Nicholas, chocolates category manager of Mondelez International.
“For over 100 years, Cadbury has been creating many moments of joy in people’s lives, something that fits well with the joy created by the premier league football every day – whether it’s a moment of magic that turns a match, watching a game together with loved ones, or just debating the weekend’s goals with friends.”
Malaysia is a football-mad nation, and few would disagree. People shuffle off to mamaks with friends or seek the comfort of one’s couches on weekends in the wee hours of the morning just to catch the latest premier league matches live.
With over seven million football fans in Malaysia who watch the Premier League, the partnership is set to extend Cadbury’s reach to loyal football fans to deliver a unique experience as the brand shares the cheer and fun of the premier league match with its consumers.
As one of the largest confectionary brands in the world, Cadbury has established a formidable presence in Malaysia over the past four decades with an unrivalled portfolio of leading products which include favourites Cadbury Dairy Milk and Zip, and new variants like Cadbury Dairy Milk Oreo, Cadbury 5 Star and Marvelous Creations.
And just for the record – Andy’s favourite? The Dairy Milk.
