Shopee, the leading e-commerce platform in Southeast Asia and Taiwan honoured its expanding community of sellers at the Shopee Seller Awards 2018.
The star-studded occasion saw leading brands such as Nestlé, Honor, and Digi share the stage with celebrities as Shopee celebrated a landmark year.
“Since our inception in 2015, we have shattered our own expectations and 2018 was another year of significant milestones, including Shopee 11.11 Big Sale which saw over 11 million orders across the region on Nov 11 alone,” said regional managing director Ian Ho.
“We also unveiled Blackpink as our first regional brand ambassador in time for Shopee 12.12 Birthday Sale, cementing our position as the leading e-commerce platform in the region.”
Shopee 12.12 Birthday Sale features almost three weeks of daily promotions till the peak on Dec 12 to round off a record year. Users can enjoy nationwide free shipping from as low as RM12, 120% cashback every day, and daily deals from as low as RM12 from Shopee Mall over the entire event.
Ho also revealed what’s in the pipeline for Shopee in the coming months. Metrojaya will soon become the latest retailer to join their platform, and the Shopee Express will be launching soon. In addition, photography services will be offered to help sellers take good images of their products for sale, together with page designing.

Nestlé and Mono Digital were the biggest winners on the night, taking home the Shopee Seller of the Year Award for Mall and Marketplace respectively. Additionally, Datuk Seri Siti Nurhaliza won the People’s Celebrity Award, named by Shopee users for her official store SimplySiti on Shopee Celebrity Squad.
Shopee enjoyed robust growth in the third quarter of 2018, with gross orders and gross merchandise value increasing 24.0% and 21.1% respectively from the second quarter.
Shopee also reinforced its position as the online shopping destination of choice in the region, with the number of users growing by around 150% in the past year.
The past year was an exciting one for Shopee Malaysia, with the following key highlights recorded:
● Around 16 million downloads to date;
● Around 600 brands and retail partners on Shopee Mall, including leading brands like Watsons, MR DIY and VOIR;
● Around 400,000 active sellers;
● And around 450 employees to serve sellers and buyers.
