PUTRAJAYA, 6 June 2021:
Given the current restrictions and measures imposed to contain the nationwide spread of Covid-19, the annual Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia for form five students will not be held this year.
Senior Education Minister Datuk Dr Radzi Jidin today announced SPM 2021 and related examinations will instead be held next year – with the oral and practical science tests to be held in February 2022 while the written examination in March 2022.
Citing how last year’s SPM examinations were conducted after being postponed several times to earlier this year, he said: “Experience in managing SPM 2020 allows us to move the period or date of the 2021 examination to 2022 and we are confident that all processes related to SPM 2021 will be able to run smoothly as was successfully implemented for SPM 2020.”
He also said virtual school lessons will continue after the current mid-year break ends next weekend.
Radzi said the Home-based Teaching and Learning (PdPR) teaching method will be conducted for another 25 days – covering the June 13 to July 15 period for Group A schools in Johor, Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu.
This will cover the period June 14 to July 16 for Group B schools in Perlis, Penang, Perak, Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka, Pahang, Sabah, Sarawak, Kuala Lumpur, Labuan and Putrajaya.
He added that all private, international and expatriate schools registered with the Education Ministry should also implement PdPR throughout this period according to their own calendars.
